A Call to Action is Important to your Online Business Part III
A call to action such as “get a free ebook by getting our newsletter NOW. Click Here.” Will give better results than just “Our newsletter registration is on the right”.
That’s a call to action. It works a lot better than saying ‘See my lovely web page. Read it all and then buy something.’ The days are gone when people surf random websites: they know what they want these days and they did not accidentally arrive on your site. They did so because they are looking for something, so tell them what to do to get it. Even if it something as simple as telling them to use the navigation to get to the topic they want.
You have less than 30 seconds to provide them the major calls to action on your page, so don’t confuse them with a load of minor stuff they must do. Give them what they want and tell them what to do.
If you have long sales page, or a review of a product, we have a paradox. Visitors don’t want to spend too much time making a decision, but they will read long tracts of text if it interests them. In such cases provide a call to action at various points on the page, so that they act if they want to, but also read on if they want to. Don’t leave it to the end or you might lose them, so give them the options, and let them know it by exhorting them to make that click.
Emails are the same. If emailing your list you have to provide a call to action on the email. Don’t just provide a link at the bottom and expect them to notice it and do something. Tell them to ‘Click Here’ for more information. A call to action is important to your online business so make sure that you have up to maximum of three different calls to action on each page.
Let your visitors know what is expected of them and what they have to do.
