Build a Niche Store - Adsense or eBay

The debate of eBay versus AdSense continues to rage and this month the argument has taken a new twist. With the launch of “Build a Niche Store”, the eBay affiliate program and the AdSense program are combined and many are left asking the question, “Which will make me the most money”?

The two programs, while similar are in fact two very different beasts and this article will dissect the two programs to find out which you should be using and when you should be using it. The reason for this is best explained as we look at each program in turn so you can best decide which program suits the needs of your particular marketing goal.

AdSense: AdSense, owned by Google, is a very simple program to use. After signing up for your free account you simply choose the style of ad you wish to display on your site and enter the code that you are given.

This code will then display contextual ads on your site. The actual ads will depend upon the text content of the page where the ads are displayed and because of this, to an extent, you can control the actual ads which are displayed.

The reason for doing this is because some ads are worth more to you, as the site owner, than other ads. Google will pay you a percentage of the revenue that it makes from the ads it displays on your site and this depends upon how much the advertisers have agreed to pay Google. Some ads which the advertisers have paid Google a high bid amount for can be more than $100 in some cases.

If your site displays ads where the advertiser is paying Google that kind of money, then you are sure to get paid a handsome amount of that value each time a visitor to your site clicks on one of the ads.

But it is not as easy as it sounds to get Google to display those kind of high paying ads on your site. In reality, the each click to you, as the site owner displaying the ads, will be a few cents to maybe a dollar.

The plus side to Google AdSense is that it is very easy to use and you can be up and running within half an hour with very little effort and you will get paid for every click you receive on the ads on your site.

The downside to this however is that your earning potential will end there and the visitor will be directed away from you site. It is not possible to get the clicks on the AdSense ads to open in a new window, so as soon as the ad is clicked, your visitor is taken a way from you.

The eBay Affiliate Program: While this program is not as easy and straight forward to use as AdSense, it does offer you much greater flexibility and more earning potential. When you sign up as an eBay affiliate you can choose to display live eBay listings on your website and each item is linked to your affiliate ID.

Unlike the AdSense program, you do not get paid for that click. You will only get paid when that visitor either places a bid on an item within eBay or uses the ‘Buy It Now’ option. But eBay also offers you a further opportunity to make money and this is by paying you a set amount for each new member that joins eBay from your affiliate link.

One of the benefits of eBay over AdSense is that you can control exactly the type of items you want to display on your site. If you choose to display Baby Strollers then you can display exactly that. Another benefit is that your eBay affiliate links open in a new page too so your site remains open for the visitor to come back to.

So as you can see, while the programs are similar, they are also very different in terms of how they work and what they offer you. So you can imagine the opportunity that arrives when a new program is released that combines both of these programs together.

Both of these programs work side by side in the a product called “Build a Niche Store”. The program creates a professional and search engine friendly website which is filled with products that are listed live on eBay, all of which are linked with your eBay affiliate ID and because the listings are taken live from the listing on eBay, your site is constantly updated for you.

The website that “Build a Niche Store” creates for you also displays AdSense ads too and this is where is gets very interesting because the AdSense ads display text ads relevant to the eBay items which are displayed on your site. Due to this, if you choose to display items from an eBay category which AdSense advertisers are paying a high amount for the keyword associated with that item, then you are able to get Google to display high paying AdSense ads without you having to manually create fresh and relevant content because that is supplied for you from eBay.

So if you have always wanted to create a website that displays high paying AdSense AdWords then by using “Build a Niche Store” you can do this automatically and never have to create or update the content for that site.
