You know what a standard bookmark does–it marks a page of a book you’re reading so you can go back to it in the future. In the internet, something with a similar principle exists, and this is called social bookmarking. This is one way for people to store and categorize their favorite websites while sharing it with other people.

As a site owner, it is advisable for you to participate in lucrative social bookmarking. Here are some reasons:

1.) It helps people return to your site. There are many visitors lost because many people have failed to keep track of the links to a site they find interesting. But if your site is in a social bookmarking network, interested users can easily go back and click on your site’s URL.

2.) Once your site is in a social bookmarking site, other people searching for sites in certain categories will see your site’s URL, and since it’s something they’ll be interested in, there’s a high chance they’ll click on the link. Carefully read the terms and conditions of each social bookmarking site you’re interested in joining so that everything works out smoothly.
